Peta Laurisen, author of the Internationally Acclaimed Book "Creating Grand Illusions" (right) is one of Australia's most prominent artists She started painting and sketching at an early age inspired by her father, a well known Albury artist, Harvey Hall. In her early years Peta moved to Melbourne for schooling and later graduated from RMIT fashion design school. Peta went on to train and work in the fashion industry in Europe..

About fifteen years ago, Peta discovered Trompe L’Oeil art (French for 'deceive the eye') by creating a mural in her back garden. Peta has not put the brush down since, creating Trompe L’Oeils on a large scale for clients in both commercial and residential industries, this has also lead her to South East Asia.

In this time, Peta has been commissioned for many large commercial and residential projects, both nationally and internationally. Her largest commission being 55mtrs long x 5mtrs high.

Peta, featured on the cover of "CAE" magazine (right) was a recipient of the 1998 Australian Achiever Award, Melbourne Interior Design Services. Her work has been featured in many magazines, such as House and Garden Yearbook 1999, Belle, Home Beautiful, Country Looks, The Age, Domain and many more, as well as appearing on Healthy, Wealthy and Wise and Burke’s Backyard.

The title of author has now been added to Peta’s repertoire after publishing 'Creating Grand Illusions' in 2000. In this book Peta shows the reader a pictorial history of her work as well an extensive ‘how to’ section for the painter in you.

Bendigo born and now Byron Bay based, Peta paints in paradise..

Peta has chosen sensual parts of the human body.
A slight sense of mystery and voyeurism creeps into her work, creating a legitimate space for the viewer to stand and stare.

Some of the commissions she has undertaken include:

- Tutoring for the Centre for Adult Education Melbourne, Australia in Trompe L' oeil art.
- Appearing on the well known prime time TV shows, 'Bourkes Back Yard' and 'Healthy Wealthy & Wise".

Peta was also nominated for Australian Achiever Award 1998 and is the author of her own book called 'Creating Grand Illusions'.
